Georgia has made a significant easing of its visa regime for Indian passport holders, with the aim of increasing tourism and people-to-people ties between the two nations. The new policy, which comes into effect immediately, permits many Indian tourists to travel to Georgia visa-free under specified conditions, while others will enjoy a simplified process for obtaining visas. The step is likely to make Georgia an even more popular destination for Indian tourists looking for a combination of history, culture, and natural beauty.

Visa-Free Travel for Eligible Indian Visitors
  • Indian visa holders or residence permit holders of the US, UK, Schengen Area, or Japan can now visit Georgia without requiring a standalone Georgian visa.
  • Travelers are required to possess all supporting documents for verification at the Georgian border, such as the valid third-country visa or permit, travel documents, and purpose of visit proof.
Simplified Visa Process for Others
Indian travelers without the visas mentioned above can apply for a Georgian visa via a simplified process.

The documents required are:
  • Passport photo (according to Georgian e-Visa size)
  • Digitized copy of the passport's bio page (PDF format)
  • Aadhaar-linked mobile number and email ID
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Financial records: six months' bank statement (unedited, PDF), three years' Income Tax Returns, PAN card
  • Proof of working (company ID, salary slip, or employment letter)
  • Travel and health insurance
  • Hotel reservations, return air ticket, and itinerary
If sponsored: sponsor's bank statement, proof of relationship, and sponsorship letter with signature

Official Guidance and Security
  • Georgian authorities highly recommend Indian tourists to rely on only official government websites for travel and visa application to prevent fraud and unauthorised agents.
  • Official websites to be used are: www.evisa.gov.ge, india.mfa.gov.ge, and georgia.travel.
Boost to Tourism and Bilateral Relations
  • The policy will drive a sharp surge in Indian tourist traffic to Georgia, further cementing economic and cultural ties.
  • Travel industry experts view this as a strategic move to position Georgia as a gateway to the Caucasus region for Indian travelers.
Travel Experience in Georgia
Georgia offers diverse experiences: from the historic charm of Tbilisi and Kakheti’s vineyards to the scenic Caucasus mountains and renowned hospitality.

The new visa policy makes these attractions more accessible and affordable for Indian tourists.
