During his visit to Germany, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar thanked the Indian diaspora for being instrumental in strengthening India-Germany ties and reiterated India's stern zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Addressing the members of the Indian community along with German policymakers, Jaishankar thanked the diaspora for helping strengthen bilateral relations even further, as both countries are celebrating 25 years of their strategic partnership.
Jaishankar reminded India's firm opposition to terrorism with reference to the recent Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, and reaffirmed that India would "never yield to nuclear blackmail". He welcomed the early and unequivocal German condemnation of the terror attack, reaffirming that Germany supports India's right to defend itself against terrorism. "There is practically no country which would say they condone what was done and won't condemn it.". If I say I have the right to defend myself, my citizens and my country, then nine out of ten people in the world will be with me. Germany is," Jaishankar said.
The minister also reflected on further enhancing cooperation with Germany in defence, technology, sustainability, and mobility of talent, again reiterating that strong India-Germany relations are essential to addressing global challenges.
