In a decisive move to reform Delhi’s urban transport governance, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has instructed a Task Force led by the Chief Secretary to expedite the preparation of the DUMTA Bill. The proposed legislation seeks to unify Delhi’s currently fragmented transport ecosystem under a single authority, ensuring coherent planning, integration, and sustainability.
The Bill also proposes the creation of a Delhi Urban Transport Fund (DUTF) to finance infrastructure and operational improvements. Senior officials from transport, urban development, finance, planning, and public works departments are part of the Task Force, alongside experts in urban mobility.
