High Court Calls ‘Cut’ on OTT, Bhool Chuk Maaf Rolls Back to Theatres!

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf will now hit theaters on May 23, 2025, after a legal battle put its scheduled direct OTT release on hold. Initially planned for a May 9 theatrical release in cinema halls, the film's theatre release got postponed due to security concerns amidst India-Pakistan tensions, when the production company Maddock Films opted for a Prime Video release on May 16. Multiplex chain PVR Inox, however, moved a case in breach of contract on the basis of the OTT release, asking for damages and a stay on the latter.

 

Following the intervention of the courts and amicable negotiations between Maddock Films, PVR Inox, and Amazon MGM Studios, the theatrical release of the film has been reinstated. The digital premiere on Prime Video will be within two weeks thereafter, on June 6-an unusually short time period compared to the usual eight weeks. The resolution of the dispute also included PVR Inox withdrawing its ₹60 crore compensation claim.

 

Pre-releases of Bhool Chuk Maaf have picked up momentum prior to its theatrical release, guaranteeing fans a new film experience.
