The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to national safety and security, with Chairman V Narayanan emphasizing that every mission is meticulously planned to serve India’s strategic and civilian needs.
Key Highlights:
ISRO’s core mission is the safety and security of India’s people and territory, not competition with other nations.
“All our programmes are for the safety and security of our people and country. We don’t compete with any other nation. Our mission is planned based on our needs,” stated Chairman V Narayanan.
As of January, ISRO successfully launched its 100th rocket from Sriharikota, marking a significant milestone in India’s space journey.
The upcoming 101st satellite, RISAT-18, will be launched aboard the PSLV-C61 on May 18. This Earth Observation Satellite will further strengthen India’s surveillance and disaster management capabilities.
At least 10 satellites are working round-the-clock for strategic purposes, monitoring India’s 7,000 km coastline and sensitive northern borders.
ISRO’s satellites play a crucial role in disaster management, significantly reducing casualties during calamities compared to the past.
The agency’s technological advancements now support a wide range of sectors, including telemedicine, education, weather forecasting, TV broadcasting, and national security.
India has launched and placed 433 satellites into orbit for 34 countries, showcasing its growing stature as a global space power.
ISRO is also developing advanced earth-imaging satellites in collaboration with international partners, further enhancing its capabilities.
The PSLV rocket, known for its reliability, remains the workhorse of India’s space program, enabling diverse missions for both civilian and strategic objectives.
ISRO’s focus remains steadfast: leveraging space technology to protect, empower, and advance the nation, ensuring India’s readiness for present and future challenges.
