In a proud moment for Indian hockey, the trophy for the upcoming FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 was unveiled at a grand ceremony held at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat in Chennai. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin led the event, joined by Deputy CM Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin and senior officials from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and Hockey India.
This marks a historic edition of the tournament, as it will feature 24 teams for the first time, expanding its global reach and competitive spirit. Scheduled from November 28 to December 10, 2025, the matches will be hosted across Chennai and Madurai, with the iconic Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium set to witness India’s opening clash against Chile.
India, a two-time champion (2001 and 2016), has been placed in Pool B alongside Chile, Oman, and Switzerland. With home advantage and a legacy to uphold, the Indian junior squad will be eyeing a third title on familiar turf.
Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey expressed pride in Tamil Nadu’s continued support for the sport, stating that the state’s infrastructure and enthusiasm make it an ideal host for such a prestigious event. The unveiling ceremony also served as a rallying call to fans and athletes alike, setting the stage for a month of high-octane action and youthful talent.
