The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) governing body has approved grand plans for the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI), a big boost for the sport in the nation. The NRAI board approved an open governance model, franchisee-owned team structure, and mixed team competitions in pistol (10m, 25m), rifle (10m, 50m 3P), and shotgun (trap & skeet) events. SLI 2025, scheduled from November 20 to December 2, will feature eight teams in two pools, with top Indian and foreign marksmen put together in four competitive grades: Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Juniors.

The league will aim to blend high-end sport with league-format drama, boost grassroots talent, and attract private investment, while a player auction and hefty prize money ensure that SLI will be a spectator's delight. The logo will be unveiled in June, making way for a new era in Indian shooting.
