Mayurbhanj’s Billion-Dollar Leap: Odisha’s Next Industrial Powerhouse Emerges

Mayurbhanj district in Odisha is on the brink of a significant economic transformation following Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s announcement of an ambitious Rs 10,000 crore investment plan for industrial development. The announcement was made during a grand event in Bisoi, where the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for developmental projects worth over Rs 420 crore.

The Rs 10,000 crore industrial investment aims to double Mayurbhanj’s development and create extensive employment opportunities for local residents.

The initiative will include the establishment of new industries across sectors such as steel, green hydrogen, and automobile parts, with the goal of accelerating the district’s economic growth.

Alongside industrialization, 133 projects worth Rs 328 crore have been completed, and foundation stones have been laid for 52 new projects valued at Rs 91 crore, spanning rural drinking water, mega piped water supply, school infrastructure, healthcare, road construction, and tribal cultural centers.

The development package is expected to benefit key areas including Rairangpur, Kusumi, Bijatala, Bahalda, Jamda, and Tiring, fostering inclusive growth across the district.

The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a new Plus II college at Bisoi block headquarters and the naming of the Bisoi Mini Stadium after the revered tribal leader Dharanidhar Naik.

The government’s “36 for 36” initiative aims to transform Odisha by 2036 through focused efforts in education, health, industry, and infrastructure.

Financial assistance was distributed to local beneficiaries, including support for women’s self-help groups, marriage incentives for workers’ daughters, and ex gratia for families of the deceased.

Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that these projects mark a new chapter in Mayurbhanj’s development journey, promising a wave of prosperity and progress for the region’s residents.
