The digital premiere of Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s much-awaited film Bhool Chuk Maaf has been stalled after the Bombay High Court issued an interim order blocking its OTT release. The court's decision follows a ₹60 crore lawsuit brought by PVR Inox against Maddock Films for breach of contract after the production house abruptly called off the theatrical release of the film, which was earlier set to hit theatres on May 9, citing heightened security in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.

Maddock Films had scheduled a direct-to-OTT release on Prime Video on May 16, but the court ruled this was a violation of the 8-week theatrical exclusivity window agreed to. Bhool Chuk Maaf, thus, cannot be released on any digital platform until at least the next hearing on June 16. The court battle highlights growing tensions between producers and exhibitors over release strategies in uncertain times.
