In a landmark announcement during the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi, the Government of India has anointed the Northeast the new epicentre of India's development journey. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his opening remarks, welcomed the region's transition from once being an inaccessible frontier to a thriving growth driver, emphasizing its pivotal position in India's journey towards 'Viksit Bharat' in 2047.
The conclave, attended by chief ministers, union ministers, ambassadors, and industry stalwarts, showcased Northeast's diversity as its greatest strength—everything from textiles and tourism to energy, semiconductors, and organic products. Modi promised the largest investments in infrastructure, hydropower, solar power, and semiconductor production, with Assam to introduce India's first Northeast-made semiconductor chip.

The vision was seconded by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, highlighting the 100% literacy rate of Mizoram and the risk-taking temperament of the youth of the region. He initiated the 'Skilling for AI Readiness' initiative to equip students with an AI-readied future, highlighting the Northeast as an epitome of resilience and creativity.

The summit is a marked shift from "Look East" to "Act East", with the Northeast at the center of India's growth story and embracing local and foreign investment.
