Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurating the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi, spotlighted a decade of transformative investment in the region’s education sector. Modi announced that over ₹21,000 crore has been invested in the Northeast’s education landscape since 2014, catalyzing a wave of new opportunities for youth and positioning the region as a growth frontrunner for India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Key achievements include the establishment of more than 800 new schools, the region’s first AIIMS, nine new medical colleges, two IIITs, and nearly 200 skill development institutes. The Indian Institute of Mass Communication’s new campus in Mizoram and India’s first sports university further underscore the government’s commitment to holistic development. Enhanced digital infrastructure, including a fourfold increase in optical fiber reach and thousands of new mobile towers, is bridging the education gap for students in remote areas.
Modi emphasized that this robust investment is not just about statistics—it’s about empowering the Northeast’s youth, fostering peace, and transforming the region from a frontier to a front-runner in India’s growth story. The Prime Minister urged investors and industry leaders to leverage the Northeast’s immense potential, especially in organic farming, technology, and entrepreneurship.
