Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has hailed the government's switch to solar power at the Delhi Assembly as a strong reflection of its commitment to sustainability. The LG and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stone for a new 500 kW solar plant at the Assembly on May 12, 2025, in place of the current 200 kW system and in an effort to power the legislative complex completely by solar power.
This project is part of a larger drive towards the integration of renewable energy into public infrastructure and is intended to be an example to other authorities. "Starting the green transition with the Assembly building itself shows our intent to lead by example," the LG emphasized, pointing out that projects of this nature are important in the achievement of climate goals and the reduction of dependence on fossil fuels. The project is an indicator of the government's proactive stance towards sustainability and its inclination towards a cleaner, greener Delhi.
