French aerospace giant Safran aims to triple its revenue from India, targeting over €3 billion by 2030. This goal is driven by expanding manufacturing, defense partnerships, and involvement in India's growing aerospace and space sectors, aligning with India's Make in India initiative.
Safran is significantly ramping up its activities in India, with plans to increase its revenue from the Indian market to more than €3 billion by 2030. This ambition stems from a multi-pronged strategy encompassing expanded local production facilities, strategic joint ventures, and growing participation in both defense and aerospace sectors.
The company has existing production sites in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Goa, and is set to open a new LEAP engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) site in Hyderabad in 2025. Safran is also investing in advanced manufacturing capabilities, including a new electronics production site and an R&D center in Bengaluru, which will support aeronautics and defense sectors while strengthening exports.
On the defense front, Safran Electronics & Defense has collaborated with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to manufacture smart precision-guided weapons locally, aligning with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat push. This joint venture and others position Safran as a key partner in India's strategic defense indigenization.
Safran's involvement in India's space ambitions, particularly its support for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission and satellite programs, further bolster its growth prospects in the region.
