Chennai, May 16: Girls have again proved to be academic achievers in the Tamil Nadu SSLC Class 10 board exams, beating boys as the Directorate of Government Examinations released the results today. The overall pass percentage in this year was a record 93.80%, a significant improvement from the last year's 91.5%.

9,13,291 students appeared for the examinations held between 28th March and 15th April, 2025, out of which 8,17,421 passed. The girls had a remarkable pass percentage of 95.88%, with the boys keeping a pass percentage of 91.74%. This is a gender gap of over four percentage points in favor of girls students, a trend continued over the past few years.

Among the districts, the highest pass percentage of 98.31% was recorded by Sivagangai, followed by Virudhunagar and Thoothukudi. Aided schools also recorded a better performance than government schools with a pass percentage of 93.09% against 87.34%.

Discontented students are offered revaluation or rechecking, whereas others are offered a second opportunity through supplementary exams. The outcomes, published online as well as on DigiLocker, reflect the state's steady academic growth, particularly among girls.
