Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has revealed a new ambitious plan, asserting that the Ministry of Agriculture would now operate on the motto of "One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team". Addressing a star farmers' meet at Nagpur, Chouhan appealed to all stakeholders-centre and state governments, ICAR scientists, extension officers, and progressive farmers-to join hands for a concerted, mission-based endeavour to transform Indian agriculture.
He also aimed at bridging the research lab-farm divide, and he started a 15-day campaign during which 16,000 ICAR scientists will visit villages and demonstrate innovations and best practices directly to farmers. Chouhan also commissioned India's first-ever National Soil Spectral Library and inaugurated a national clean plant laboratory in Pune, emphasizing a technology-orientated, collaborative approach towards empowering farmers and enhancing productivity.
