THE DIGITAL SHIFT

In a significant move towards paperless travel, Indian Railways has officially made the mAadhaar app as valid an identity verification tool on train travel as any other. The move is meant to prevent impersonation, improve security, and simplify the ticket checking process by facilitating Aadhaar verification in real time through a QR code scan even in offline mode.

Ticket checking staff will henceforth utilize the mAadhaar app to verify the identity of passengers in real-time

The application, which is designed by UIDAI, shows important details such as name, photo, Aadhaar number, and address through QR code

Does not require an internet connection, facilitating smooth verification within zones

Designed to check the manufacture of fake Aadhaar cards and illicit travel

ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS

Railway zones instructed to use the application in verifying IDs of contractual personnel on board like catering and housekeeping personnel

Any suspected Aadhaar misuse or fraud must be reported at once to RPF or police in the area

The Railways Ministry has requested all zones to train staff and apply on a large scale
