Walk the Middle Path: CM Sukhu Calls for Buddha’s Wisdom in Everyday Life

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, which was observed on May 12, 2025, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called upon people to adopt the teachings of Lord Buddha in their lives. Commemorating the 2587th birthday of Gautama Buddha, the festival celebrates his birth, enlightenment, and ultimate liberation. CM Sukhu noted that Buddha's principles of peace, compassion, and non-violence have special relevance today for the realization of harmony and social progress.
Buddha Purnima was celebrated with religious fervor in the state with prayers and community activities that reflected Himachal's Buddhist tradition. Buddha Purnima is a public holiday in Himachal Pradesh and certain other Indian states. The followers throughout the state visited monasteries and participated in meditation sessions to offer obeisance to the memory of the Enlightened One.
