Quick commerce (Q-commerce) is transforming Indian retail far beyond the initial 10-minute delivery hype. Initially concentrated on urban grocery delivery, Q-commerce today represents more than two-thirds of all e-grocery orders and a tenth of e-retail expenditure, with an annual growth rate anticipated at 40% to 2030. Platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart are growing aggressively into tier-2 cities and mandis, selling beyond groceries, including electronics, apparel, and personal care products. This expansion is fueled by dense city networks, dark stores in local areas, and smart logistics, so that even small-town customers can access essentials and luxuries within minutes. Competition within the industry is fueling innovations in delivery, inventory, and customer experience to make Q-commerce a force for digital inclusion and retail transformation across India's diverse landscape.
