A new physiotherapy center has formally opened its doors at the Late Draupadabai Murlidhar Khedekar Hospital in Bopodi, Pune, as a huge addition to city healthcare. The center has been opened under the aegis of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and is operated in association with specialist doctors from Sancheti Hospital.

Four physiotherapists in a team will offer services from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and on Saturdays between 9 am and 1 pm. The centre can treat 10 to 12 patients at a time and offers different types of physiotherapy services, including general, paediatric, and neuro physiotherapy. The centre, opened on April 25, has been receiving good response from the public, hospital authorities added.

Dr. Gunesh Bagade, PMC's medical officer, made sure that all the permissions were in place prior to the launch of the initiative. Apart from the physiotherapy center, the hospital's 15-bed maternity ward has also been renovated with new hydraulic beds, labour tables, shifting stretchers, trolleys, baby warmers, and other necessary medical equipment. The ward has been fully renovated with electrical, plumbing, and painting work.

PMC's health chief Dr. Nina Borade stated, "The physiotherapy unit was the need of the hour and will be beneficial to thousands of patients at no cost. The enhanced maternity services will also improve mother and infant care.".
