Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled a series of transformative initiatives aimed at modernizing railway infrastructure and improving connectivity across India. The announcement, made during the inauguration of two new express trains in Pune, highlights the government's commitment to enhancing passenger experience and expanding railway networks.
Infrastructure Developments
- Pune Railway Station is set to undergo a major transformation, with plans to introduce four new platforms and world-class facilities
- Development projects for six railway stations—Pune, Hadapsar, Khadki, Shivajinagar, Uruli Kanchan, and Alandi—are in the final stages
- The Pune-Nagpur Vande Bharat train is under discussion, with trial runs already underway for new alignments on the Pune-Nashik railway corridor
New Train Services
- The Hadapsar-Jodhpur Express and MGR Chennai Central-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express were inaugurated, providing relief to passengers traveling between Maharashtra and Rajasthan
- The Hadapsar-Jodhpur Express will operate regularly from May 5, with scheduled stops at key stations including Ahmedabad, Surat, and Abu Road
Strategic Railway Expansion
- Work on the third and fourth railway lines on the Pune-Lonavala route is nearing completion, improving travel efficiency
- Under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, development projects are progressing at Pune, Hadapsar, Uruli, and Shivajinagar stations
- Railway development projects worth one crore rupees are underway in Maharashtra, focusing on modernization and passenger convenience
