Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the new international terminal at Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on May 29. This marks a significant advancement for Bihar’s aviation infrastructure. With a hefty investment of ₹1,200 crore, the cutting-edge terminal covers an impressive 65,155 square meters and is designed to accommodate up to 4,500 passengers during peak times, increasing the airport's annual capacity from 2.5 million to a whopping 10 million travelers.
The terminal boasts 54 check-in counters, five aerobridges, eight X-ray baggage scanners, five baggage conveyor belts, a VIP lounge, and a range of modern amenities that reflect Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, featuring motifs inspired by Madhubani art and Nalanda University. Additionally, a newly built multi-level parking complex for 750 vehicles and a 150-meter travellator will be unveiled, ensuring smooth passenger flow.
Arrivals will be handled on the ground floor, while departures will take place on the first floor. The inauguration ceremony will include a guided tour of the facility and a presentation highlighting its advanced infrastructure. On the same day, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the new Bihta airport terminal.
