In a big initiative to accommodate the boom in passenger traffic, Indian Railways has announced that the Puri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express will be operated with 20 coaches from May 16, 2025. The addition will consist of four AC Chair Car Coaches, which will enhance the train capacity as well as offer more convenience and comfort to the passengers.
The train under the new composition will consist of 16 AC Chair Car Coaches, 2 Executive Chair Car Coaches, and 2 Crew & AC Chair Car Coaches. The move follows a review of the travel patterns, which showed the route was gaining popularity among daily commuters and tourists.
Railway officials believe that the additional seating capacity will cut down on waiting lists and carry more riders, particularly in peak seasons. The initiative should greatly enhance the travel experience by providing modern facilities and better service on one of the most busiest lines in the region.
The riders will be treated to a safe and smooth ride in the new semi-high-speed train, again making the Puri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express a preferred option for intercity travel.
