Zepto, the quick commerce player, has launched a new feature called "Swap and Save" in beta version, with the aim of saving customers money while eliminating slow-selling inventory. When customers add items like ice creams to their cart, the app suggests alternatives that are cheaper but of similar type and flavor. For example, adding a ₹349 Go Zero French Vanilla tub to the cart prompts a swap suggestion to Amul Vanilla Magic at ₹195. This drive towards saving costs benefits the consumer and Zepto alike by driving underperforming stock.
Currently in use across certain categories, the feature encourages smarter purchasing and inventory turnover, potentially reducing waste and increasing sales efficiency. Analysts suggest that upcoming upgrades could include recommendation engines and social proof to further render swaps useful and convenient.
Adding Swap and Save, Zepto fortifies its inventory-led model and consumer-centric approach to India's ultra-fast grocery delivery space.
