The Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, hosted in New Delhi, ended with an impressive investment commitment of ₹4.3 lakh crore. This will be a milestone in transforming the Northeast region of the country. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) presented the two-day summit with a participation of global investors, policymakers, and business leaders.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia declared during his valedictory address, “The acronym NER today stands for New Economic Revolution and New Economic Revival of India.” Minister Scindia clarified the summit would not mark the end, but the start of the journey for the Northeast region’s economic developments.
The summit included the signing of several landmark Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) in several sectors, including hospitality, agriculture, education, and renewable energy. Some notable agreements that were signed included Sikkim’s MoU with SM Hotels and Resorts (₹250-300 crore), Arunachal Pradesh’s MoU with Farm Native Group (₹150 crore), and Meghalaya’s ₹4,000 crore agreement with Agri-Bio Fuels Global Ltd. Also signed was Tripura’s agreement with the Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir Trust to set up a new university and Ayurveda college.
The summit emerged with a total of 803 investment intents made through roadshows, B2G meetings, and public-private proposals. Roadshows, alone, showed an interest of over ₹99,000 crore; while PSUs and industrial houses are committed to ₹1.27 lakh crore and ₹1.58 lakh crore, respectively.
The Northeast was represented in delegations of over 80 countries through the summit, underlining its strategic positioning as an economic bridge to Southeast Asia. Minister Scindia also announced a newly established institutional framework that will offer eight sectoral verticals to be led by Chief Ministers for timely implementation of the MoUs.
“This is not an investment of rupees and dollars, but an investment of trust, in relationships, and in the future economic geography of India,” referenced Minister Scindia, endorsing the Government’s commitment to the growth in Northeast region.
