Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth has refuted claims that he was officially informed about his three-year suspension by the Kerala Cricket Association. The cricketer, known for his fiery on-field persona, stated that he learned about the disciplinary action only through media reports and has vowed to take legal action against the decision.
The KCA announced the suspension following Sreesanth’s public criticism of the association over Sanju Samson’s omission from India’s ICC Champions Trophy squad earlier this year. The board accused him of making false and defamatory remarks, alleging that the KCA played a role in keeping Samson out of the national team by forcing him to play for Kerala.
Sreesanth, who co-owns the Kerala Cricket League franchise Kollam Aries, maintains that he has not received any official communication regarding the ban. He insists that his comments were made in support of a fellow state player and that he will explore legal options once he receives formal documentation from the KCA.
The controversy has sparked further tensions, with the KCA also announcing plans to take legal action against Samson’s father, Samson Vishwanath, and former Kerala cricketer Reji Lukose for allegedly making defamatory statements against the association.
Sreesanth’s career has been marked by highs and lows, including his involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, which led to a lifetime ban that was later reduced to seven years. Since his return, he has represented Kerala in domestic tournaments and retired from all forms of cricket in 2023.
