In an astonishing development that has reverberated through the South Indian film sector, Tollywood superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna (widely referred to as Balayya) has reportedly been paid a staggering Rs 22 crore for appearing in a cameo role of only 10 minutes in the highly expected film ‘Jailer 2.’ The picture has a large ensemble cast led by Rajnikanth, who has offered Balakrishna part in an exciting action scene, along with Rajinikanth and Shiva Rajkumar.
According to people in the industry, Balakrishna's small but strong role is considered as one of the main reasons of the picture, designed to scramble the audience in Tamil and Telugu states. Given that the cameo was labelled as "a festival during the screen" for fans, Balayya's dynamic persona would combine with Rajinikanth's celebrated character.
'Jailer 2', directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, is a sequel to the 2023 success, and is presently in the works of shooting in Kerala. Rajinikanth returns as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, however, Ramya Krishnan reprises her role. The score of the film was supposed to be composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Following his recent movies which have contributed to his box office might, such as ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ and ‘Daaku Maharaaj’, Balakrisha is one of few actors who can receive obscenely high compensation even for minuscule performances. The picture has yet to be recognised by the production house, however, after the buzz around this casting coup, social media has already begun buzzing and expectations are rising for 'Jailer 2' to break box office records upon release.
