The Border Security Force (BSF) presented its impressive military equipment, including the domestic 'Vidhwansak' anti-material rifle, at a weapons display today at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Jammu. The display emphasized the critical role played by these advanced weapons, during Operation Sindoor, a major retaliation launched on May 7, 2023, against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack.

BSF troops demonstrated the firing range of the Vidhwansak rifle, which has an effective range of 1,300 to 1,800 meters, capable of destroying enemy pillboxes, bunkers, and armoured vehicles. The rifle, which has interchangeable barrels and magazines, has reportedly been used to engage and eliminate Pakistani observation posts and bunkers during the operation, according to officials.

In addition to the Vidhwansak, the BSF also displayed the Automatic Grenade Launcher System, which has had considerable success engaging enemy posts, hideouts, and bullet-proof vehicles, with the recognition that it has an effective range of 1,700 to 2,100 meters, delivering a lethal radius of 10 meters.

Other heavy weaponry included the 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun, operated by a three-member crew, with a range of up to 2 kilometers, that has been used against enemy tanks, camps and drones, as well as reportedly causing Pakistani forces to abandon their border outposts. The medium machine gun, capable of firing 600-1,000 rounds per minute, was also commented on, with particular emphasis placed on its role to suppress enemy positions and neutralize drones.

BSF officials reinforced their commitment to remain on high alert along the International Border, with Inspector General Shashank Anand stating, "Operation Sindoor is on-going, vigilance is paramount to counter any further threats."
