Virat Kohli has once again made his mark in cricket history, becoming the first player ever to score 9,000 T20 runs for a single franchise—Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He hit this remarkable milestone during a crucial IPL 2025 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on May 27.

Kohli entered the game just 24 runs shy of the landmark and wasted no time, reaching the milestone in the fifth over while chasing a daunting target of 228 runs. His impressive tally includes runs from both the Indian Premier League and the now-defunct Champions League T20, solidifying his legacy as RCB’s all-time leading run-scorer.

Kohli’s record in T20 franchise cricket is unparalleled—the next closest player, Rohit Sharma, has 6,060 runs for the Mumbai Indians. As it stands, Kohli has accumulated 9,003 runs for RCB, featuring eight centuries and 64 fifties, with a personal best of 113*. This season, he has been a standout performer, amassing 548 runs in 12 innings at an average of 60.88, making him one of the top batters in IPL 2025.

This historic achievement not only showcases Kohli’s remarkable consistency and longevity but also reinforces his status as one of the greatest modern icons of the game.
